A NOTE TO DONORS

In celebration of our tenth year of grantmaking, on July 1, 2010, Firelight took the exciting step of incorporating as a public charity.

Our application for public charity-exempt status has been approved and the Firelight Foundation is now a 501(c)(3) organization.

 

HOW YOU CAN HELP CHILDREN & FAMILIES IN AFRICA TODAY

We have invested more than $12 million in community-based organizations since 1999 to help improve the lives of children and families affected by HIV/AIDS and poverty.

In a region where more than 300 million people live on less than a dollar a day, the community-based organizations that we fund work hard to stretch every dollar as far as possible to make the biggest difference in children’s and families’ lives.

GIVE STOCK

Firelight Foundation welcomes donations of stock, which can help you avoid capital gains taxes and help reduce your income tax burden. Electronic delivery of stock shares is most secure and expedient, but you are also welcome to transfer certificates directly.

To transfer stock to the Firelight Foundation, donors must provide the following information for audit and acknowledgment purposes:

• Donor's name and address
• Name and number of securities transferred

Gifts of stock may be made to our agent, Northern Trust Bank.

BEQUESTS

Benefits of Bequests

By making a bequest, or gift by will, you can give generously to the Firelight Foundation without reducing your current income. Charitable bequests are normally deductible in full from estate taxes.
